WEDDING INVITATION TRENDS FOR 2020

I’m not sure if I’m old or 2019 is a chance – but this year it flew! At the wedding time, we are good next year when couples order invitations 4-6 months before the big day.Every year, styles, tastes and preferences change and develop a little. I am excited to share the wedding invitation trends for 2020. It depends not only on the choice of couples I work with, but also on fashion, lifestyle and even interior design.

Trends that are Sticking Around

WEDDING MONOGRAMS

Wedding invitations and monograms go together like coffee and cream. (Can you say that by writing in the morning? Just saying – great couples!) Monograms are the perfect detail to use as designs and great because you can reuse them in your entire wedding suite – stamps, programs, menus, thank you cards and more!

Monogram wedding invitations were super popular in 2019, and this design is already in demand for weddings next year. I also see couples who choose simple letter monograms for modern weddings.

BLUES AND GREENS

This year, blue and green hues formed a large part of my couple’s wedding color palettes. There are a lot of colors that can be applied to any season and it is a color that looks great in most people, given the bridesmaid dresses.

Along with pink, wedding invitations with blue and green stick for the 2020 wedding. My favorite way to bring them is to choose a colorful envelope available in all wedding invitation suites!

Update: Pantone has announced Classic Blue as the color of the year for 2020! I am not surprised that there has been a strong color in blue wedding palettes lately – and I am happy to know that it sticks a little longer.

ENVELOPE LINERS

In 2014, when couples used envelope liners in colorful floral designs, I started to design wedding invitations (Rifle Paper Co is a fave!). Although the designs have changed, the concept of envelope liners will stay here and its popularity is growing.

The shirts are not only a fun detail and a way to bring another color, but also protect your invitations when posting. As with when using double thick cardstock, there are several packages that I really recommend envelope liners. Read this post to determine if you need envelope liners – or just want it!

MINIMALIST, MODERN DESIGN

Less art, more white space! I am excited to see that couples prefer more minimalist and modern designs for their 2020 weddings. Despite the fact that there are a few flower patterns that remain popular, demands for general “simpler” invitations are growing.

Brides and grooms want to make a statement before they get into the design. Elevated printing methods keep the design itself minimalist for an effortless feeling by choosing to invest in details such as textured paper, parchment jackets and wax seals.

FOIL PRINTING, ROSE GOLD

Pink, blush, dusty rose, mauve, whatever you mean, there was always a place for wedding invitations. Especially for couples I work with, because this is my personal favorite.

As a unique way to bring pink, rose gold foil printing will be super popular for wedding invitations in 2020. I know that in your names, we will see a look in many wedding suites this year!

LETTERPRESS AND THICK PAPER

Letterpress is perfect for minimalist designs due to the limited number of ink colors available. I think the letterpress general aesthetics is both modern and classic (ultimately printed with a century-old machine!). Letterpress invitations are printed on luxury cotton cardstock in 220 # double thickness – who can resist?

Check out this post to learn more about exactly what letterpress printing is and why I love it so much.

DARK ENVELOPES AND WHITE INK PRINTING

I was stuck looking for the trend of “dark envelopes” or “white ink printing”. Are dark envelopes because people love white ink or white ink because do people love dark envelopes? We may never know, but I’m here for that!

I look forward to working with couples who want to print white ink in their envelopes this year. It will add a pop to really black, dark green and burgundy envelopes. I am excited to announce that I now offer white ink printing at home! You can learn more about this here.

MIX AND MATCH SUITES

My favorite wedding invitation trend for 2020 does not match wedding suits! Using different printing methods and different papers is a fun way to bring unique details. This suite is the ultimate blend and match: invite with rose gold, insert card using thermography on recycled kraft paper and incompatible envelopes. Give your article some personality!

Printed printing methods can also be effective for couples on a budget. Would you like to use foil on your invitations but keep some dollars for honeymoon expenses? Select an invitation card with foil and digitally print the entrance cards. Since it uses only one piece of raised printing method, your total cost will be significantly less!

Mix and Match Wedding Invitation Trends

At the end of {wedding} day, it’s all about what you love. With or without trend, your invitation design should represent you as a couple and adjust the tone for the entire event. These are not rules or absolute and I encourage every couple to have fun with their papers, so you, girl!
