MY MOST USED KITCHEN UTENSILS (AND WHAT I GOT RID OF)

Recently, I have completely obsessed with organizing every inch of my house! It started with this FREE mini e-course about organizing your life. I organized many different areas that I shared in that course and I think it had a ripple effect in my entire home. Ha.

In addition, I was completely obsessed with the Tidying Up show with Marie Kondo. We have been a fan of their methods for years, but the show quickly became my favorite reality show. Trey probably heard me say “spark joy” more than anyone really needs, but I can’t help it. I organized almost our entire house (except for our garage – it protects it when it gets a little warmer) and it seriously brought me a lot of joy.

I feel like I know where everything is in our house. Just like the other day, my Instax camera batteries are dead and I immediately realized where our spare double A batteries were and I could replace them in less than five minutes. I felt so good! I also like to have less visual clutter. I am a super visual person (I learned from university PowerPoints instead of top marks or just sound), so having less visual clutter really makes a difference in my mood and productivity levels. I feel I have less to clean, which is definitely the spark of joy. Ha! And in my closet, I realized that it was much easier and faster to be ready in the morning because I have fewer clothes and things I want to wear ALL. And I know the little things are like black tights with no holes inside or a plain tank top to wear under certain shirts. This is awesome! If you haven’t organized and matched the KonMari train yet, what you need to do!

Anyway, I recently cleaned our kitchen and thought, as well as a few tips, I could share what kitchenware I kept and what I bought (donated). Every time I visit Elsie, I was always surprised by what she had (and didn’t) have in her kitchen. I think what you need and use is very special for what you and your family often cook, so it is interesting that the most used things come up (at least for me). I would like to hear that the utensils you use most are good!

I have two drawers that hold our various items carried by hand. These two drawers were filled with ROAD and it was difficult to find something. Now I feel that I use everything we have and I know where it is. Our most used (used daily or weekly) products in the top drawer and bottom hold what we use, but not often.THE MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS (AND HOW TO CONTINUE), 2020 MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS, 2020 MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS new solutions, MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS storage suggestions, 2020 MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS decors, MOST USED KITCHEN AREAS decorations FIELD array

The items I use the most are:
rubber spatulas (we keep four)
wine opener
citrus juicer
Can opener
peeler
reusable straws
big spoon
thin spatulas (we hold two)
Pizza cutter
whisking tools (we keep it in three different sizes)
kitchen tongs

The products I got rid of:
garlic chutney
potato tenant
extra spatula (thicker or damaged)
extra spoon
extra beaters (yes, there were more than three. Why?!)
avocado slicer
hand grater (I prefer box graters I already have)

For me, the vast majority of what I realized I didn’t need was copies, damage, or so specific things that I rarely or never use. Everything seems clear, but I honestly did not realize how much of this was confusing our kitchen!

This cabin may not seem organized to you, but to me! I know where each item is, we use it all, and it’s grouped to make sense for me. This leads me to three tips for anyone who wants to clean their kitchen cabinets or drawers:

Do you remember the last time you used it?

After removing everything and creating a massive stack (this is from the KonMari method and it makes a big difference, so you should definitely take time to do this, although there is a pain), ask this question. If you can’t remember the last time you used an easy item to get rid of. This gives me a start.

– Does it have a specific purpose?

I don’t have a citrus press just because I think it’s sweet. I have one and no less important point, because almost every day I had lemon or lemon juice in my tea and drinking water. This helps me drink more water throughout the day and the taste is much better. So this is an important thing for me. But it may not be for someone else. Everything should have a specific purpose for you – it’s not just something that some wedding registration lists or magazine articles should have. Your kitchen drawers should be as unique as your family.

This helped me realize that there are quite a lot of things (a lot of extra small plates and extra cutlery, etc.) that I use several times a year to accommodate wine-matching dishes. I love hosting and cooking people, so it’s important for me to have enough food to do this. However, since these items are used only 2-4 times a year, they have a special place that is mostly off the road.

– Is joy sparking?

This is a funny and silly question to ask while holding a spatula in your hand. I could know! But I think this is actually the most important thing I’ve learned from the KonMari method and organizing my home for the past 3 months. I’ll give you an example. We own three spatulas before cleaning the kitchen. The two we love are thin and light. The third was thicker and bigger and we could not always reach for both of us, but if the other two were dirty we would reluctantly use it. It probably came from a wedding gift set or who knows honestly. It’s been a long time. But it didn’t bring joy because nobody liked to use it. Forgiving felt really good. And now every time we reach a spatula, it’s one of the two we want to use. Yes, we must keep them clean (since we no longer have the third one), but this is not a bad thing. We clean the dishes we have less, which makes it easy and we only use what we love to have. I love him!

Have you been organized recently? It spreads joy in your kitchen? XO. Emma
